Do I need to take anything with me?
Bring a mat and a yoga block for yoga classes and also a cosy jumper or blanket for savasana.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that you can move easily in. No jewellery or strong perfumes please.
Do I need to have done a lot of yoga to try aerial yoga?
No, aerial yoga is different from mat based yoga. We work on strength and flexibility like in a yoga class but you do not need any yoga experience to give it a go.
What class should I go to? Our classes are suitable for all levels. The class descriptions will give a good idea of what to expect in class.
What is the difference between aerial yoga and yoga trapeze? The aerial yoga hammock is made of aerial silks and is much larger than the trapeze hammock. The trapeze hammock is made of parachute fabric and so has no stretch to it. It also has 3 sets of handles that are used along with different moves and exercises. There are some similarities between aerial yoga and yoga trapeze and some moves that are unique to each. They are both fun and will help build strength and flexibility. People often find that they can stretch better with these tools than they can on the mat.
What is Barre and do you need to have dance experience? Barre is a fun workout that targets specific muscle groups. It is upbeat and produces quick results. Expect to work legs, gluts, core and arms. A range of props are used including handweights, resistance bands, stability balls and booty bands. You do not need any dance experience.
Are there changing rooms? Changing rooms are not in use during COVID.
When should I not do yoga or aerial yoga/trapeze? Recent injuries- let yourself recover in the acute stage of injury. If you have any on-going medical conditions then check with your doctor. If you are pregnant, please only come to pregnancy yoga.
In aerial yoga and yoga trapeze some of the poses are inverted and so not suitable for glaucoma or high blood pressure.
If in any doubt please check with you doctor before undertaking new exercise activities.
